About the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia Ltd
The OTC is the independent body appointed by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia as the accreditation authority for the occupational therapy profession under the terms of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009 (National Law).
The OTC develops and reviews accreditation standards for entry-level occupational therapy programs of study in Australia. We work with education providers and apply the accreditation standards to determine whether programs of study meet the required standards.
The OTC currently accredits more than 60 occupational therapy programs of study across 27 higher education providers in Australia.
About the role
The OTC’s program accreditation activities include:
- development and ongoing review of the accreditation standards for the purpose of accreditation of programs and education providers for approval by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
- assessing programs of study, and education providers, to determine whether the programs meet the approved accreditation standards; requiring interstate travel
- monitoring programs of study and education providers, to ensure they continue to meet the accreditation standards.
The OTC aims to maintain a culture of collaboration in its work with stakeholders while ensuring the OTC meets its responsibilities under National Law.
The Senior Accreditation Officer has a key role in ensuring that program accreditation services are of a high standard, timely, efficient and effective, and consistent with contemporary best practice in professional accreditation. You will report to the Accreditation Manager and Chief Executive Officer and work as a member of the Program Accreditation team to implement delivery of accreditation activities.
The role involves management of accreditation assessment applications, monitoring education provider responses, providing advice, guidance and support to education providers and program assessment teams, developing and maintaining productive relationships with key stakeholders, and contributing to review of program accreditation policies, procedures and systems.

Skills and experience
Applicants are required to demonstrate excellent organisational skills, experience in understanding, interpreting and applying standards, procedures and policies, preferably in regulation or education, expertise in developing reports and committee papers, a high level of written and oral communication skills, strong stakeholder relationship skills, a commitment to ongoing cultural safety learning, and capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
A relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent professional experience in business administration, program management or project coordination is required.
